Mr. Sun @ OLS, Portland

You may know Mr Sun from their holiday visits to OLS, where they’ve brought their inventive take on Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite to our stage over the past few years. This Wednesday, September 16, we’re welcoming them back for something completely different: our first non-holiday Mr Sun show, celebrating the release of their brand-new album, The Idea Guys! Mr Sun brings together fiddler Darol Anger, guitarist Grant Gordy, mandolinist Joe K. Walsh, and bassist Aidan O’Donnell, four exceptional players whose music moves between bluegrass, jazz, folk, and American roots. Joe in particular is a very familiar face around OLS, having played our stage countless times over the years and becoming a great friend of the venue. Released September 4, The Idea Guys gives us a perfect excuse to bring the full quartet back outside of the holiday season.
