SUMMARY:Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan @ Stone Mountain Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan are arguably two of the greatest players to ever pick up their respective instruments. Fiddler and award winning virtuoso Stuart Duncan could easily be called America’s favorite fiddler. Pikelny is, day in and day out, pushing the boundaries of the five-string banjo both on his solo records and with the Punch Brothers.\nNOAM PIKELNY has emerged as the preeminent banjoist of his generation. He is a founding member of Punch Brothers, a 3-time Grammy Nominee and was awarded the first annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. In 2014 at the International Bluegrass Music Awards he was named banjo player of the year by the International Bluegrass Music Association; he received it again in 2017. He also received the album of the year award for Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe- the same album that would be nominated for “Best Bluegrass Album” at the Grammy Awards in 2015. In 2019 Punch Brothers won a Grammy Award for Best Folk Album for their album All Ashore. In 2025, Pikelny was inducted into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame under the Five-String Performance category.\nSTUART DUNCAN Stuart is hot on the fiddle with a style all of his own. His beautiful tone, tasteful touch and flawless intonation have made him the most sought after session musician in Nashville. As a multi- instrumentalists playing fiddle, mandolin, guitar and banjo he has gained the respect from many artists appearing on hundreds of albums such as Ricky Skaggs, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson Tim McGraw, Lyle Lovett, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, George Strait and many more. Stuart Duncan has received numerous awards. He is an eight time IBMA “Fiddle Player of the Year”, has also won two Grammy awards with the Nashville Bluegrass Band, five Academy of Country Music “Fiddle Player of the Year” awards, and was awarded “Specialty Instrument Player of the Year” in 2006. In 1992 he released a CD “Stuart Duncan” featuring Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten and David Grier. Stuart toured with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss in support of their five Grammy “Raising Sand” album and toured with Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler on the Roadrunning tour. Stuart played on the movie sound tracks “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Cold Mountain”. He collaborated with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer on the album “The Goat Rodeo Sessions”. Stuart Duncan was inducted into the National Fiddler Hall of Fame in 2015.\n
