HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED to join in a BLUEGRASS JAM?? Maybe you are new to jamming, or just unsure of where and how to start…..Come join us THIS SUNDAY, November 13, 2016 – The Bluegrass Music Association of Maine is sponsoring a BLUEGRASS 101 WORKSHOP – FREE with entry into the BMAM Southern Jam. Admission $3 for members, $5 for non-members.
This workshop runs from NOON to 1:30pm THIS SUNDAY ONLY and will be led by Matt Shipman and Erica Brown Shipman (Darlin’ Corey, Erica Brown & the Bluegrass Connection) instructing on topics such as:
*How to start jamming with others
*Choosing a bluegrass song
*Bluegrass Etiquette
*The I, IV & V (Nashville numbering System)
*Reviewing “rhythms”, “volume”, “breaks”, “song keys”, “use of capos”, etc.
***The information reviewed may vary to accommodate the students’ needs.
The BMAM Southern Jam is held monthly (October to April) at the North Yarmouth Academy Music Room, 148 Main Street in downtown Yarmouth from NOON to 5pm. Parking lot next to Key Bank, follow signs through courtyard to Music Room on right. ALL LEVELS OF PLAY and AGES are welcome, several rooms to play in. Finger foods and beverages provided with admission.
